Irish Stew in the Crockpot

This recipe was in Better Homes and Gardens Skinny Slow Cooker Magazine, 2012 – and it was super easy to make with great results.

Irish Stew

If you have the magazine handy, this recipe is on page 103. I had a hard time finding the right cuts of lamb for this stew so we used beef instead. Everything else I did as the recipe in the magazine instructed.

I think this is the first time we’ve used turnips in a recipe, at least that I can remember. They’re not really a heavily stocked produce in our area so it wasn’t something I picked up on a regular grocery trip.

The stew gets a thumbs up from the whole family, even after I told the kids they had just eaten turnips they were pleased. The resulting broth around the stew was delicious, perfect for scooping up with a roll or slice of bread. Yum!

Enjoy your time in the kitchen!

About Brian

A few years ago I had gotten really sick with a mystery infection that put me in the hospital for over a week. When I got home I wasn't much better off. I had to have foot surgery and was laid up on the sofa for awhile. In that time I watched alot of Food Network and really gained a passion for food and it's preparation, cooking for my family was something I could still do even when I wasn't feeling my best and it was a way to help myself reach a healthier goal as well. Now I find myself always looking for healthier options that still taste wonderful and with my wifes gluten allergy I have even more of a challenge of feeding everyone. Honestly ... I am loving every minute of it. Because my kitchen has become my place of Zen.
